A résumé, not a handicap
A handicap decides how many games you are spotted. A résumé decides which room you play in and then gets out of the way. The GPP rating is the second kind, and that is the whole design.
The question everybody actually asks
Will I be out of my depth?
It is the first thing anybody wants to know, so it is answered first. Everybody plays the same game: there is no handicap, no spot and no head start. The number decides which room you play in — not how many games you are given.
No handicap.
Everybody plays the same game. Your rating decides which room you play in and then gets out of the way — it is not a spot, a ball or a head start.
Nobody local can change your rating.
The capability does not exist in our software. Not restricted, not logged, not permissioned — not built. And nobody local can refuse you.
Nobody judges what you meant.
You will never be asked whether you missed on purpose, and nobody will be asked that about you. There is no defensive-shot mark, no innings count and no unsportsmanlike-conduct clause.
How it is worked out
It is a win rate, and it reads like one
0 to 100, one decimal. Your rating is 100 × your chance of taking one rack off the reference player, which means the number is not a band or a grade — it is a probability you can check against your own evening.

How to read it
Confidence is a count, not a margin
Alongside the number you see how many games it was built from — "Established, 417 verified racks" rather than "62.4 ± 0.50". A count is legible in a way a confidence band never is, and it is the same fact.
Why it moved
You will always be told why it moved
One screen, with the arithmetic, at the same time every week: which matches counted, what each one did, and what the number was before. A rating you cannot audit is a grade somebody gave you.
Who can change it
Nobody local can touch it
No captain, no operator, no local official can change your rating or refuse you. The capability does not exist in our software — not restricted, not logged, not permissioned. Not built.

A GPP rating describes how you have played inside GPP. It is not an import of any other system's number and does not pretend to travel — it earns its meaning here, from racks played here.
And nothing on this page is a promise about a specific band, threshold or number of matches. Those move while the system is young, and printing them would make them promises.
